Project description

Creative Crafts is designed to build on the successes of the “cReative YOUth over 65” ID: 2021-2-IT02-KA210-ADU-000049061. R YOU 65 focused on the arts as a mean for the seniors to express themselves. However, it has not focused on the intergenerational contexts nor preserving the cultural heritage. This project is using traditional crafts as a powerful medium to connect generations, preserve cultural heritage, and empower participants to express their identities.

Project objectives

– Amplify Personal Narratives: Enable seniors to explore and express their identities through traditional crafts, building on the creative foundations of “R YOU 65.” This deepens their personal stories and provides a platform for sharing within the community.
– Preserve and Reinterpret Cultural Heritage: Encourage participants to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern art, creating innovative ways to tell personal stories. This approach ensures cultural heritage is preserved and made relevant for new generations.
– Foster Intergenerational Learning and Collaboration: Facilitate meaningful exchanges between seniors and younger participants, promoting mutual learning and a blend of traditional and modern creative techniques. This will strengthen community ties and foster deeper understanding across generations.
– Extend the Artistic Legacy: Ensure that the creative momentum from “R YOU 65” continues, inspiring new craft-based expressions and creating a continuous narrative thread between the projects.

Project results

The output wille be:
– Narrative Craft Workshops – Facilitate intergenerational collaboration through traditional textile crafts (weaving, embroidery, knitting, fabric dyeing). Create narrative textile pieces reflecting personal experiences, cultural backgrounds, and generational perspectives.
– Reflection and Sharing Circles – circles for participants to discuss the emotional and narrative aspects of their textile work.
– Collaborative Textile Innovation Labs – labs focused on modernizing traditional textile crafts.
